About Gwynnie

My whimsical outlook on life began when I was 4 years old and living in Juneau, Alaska, with my family. My great Aunt Leda sent a Christmas package filled with a silky red dress, clear “high heel” slip ons and a matching necklace and earring set. It was a package full of magic! Those wonderful treasures tucked neatly inside that box helped pave the way for my love of adornment, and anything shiny. Today I handcraft metal clay and mixed media jewelry, I take photos, I paint, I make colorful messes, and my clothes are lined up by color in my closet. I'm a former community college English teacher, esthetician, manicurist, and cocktail waitress, and I also studied to become a natural doctor (not all in this order but it sounds interesting). After these adventures I finally decided to live my dream and become an artist. I'm married to a super cool dude who doesn't mind my messes (colorful or not) and thinks I'm the weirdest chick he ever met.

I believe everyone’s an artist and that art is everywhere you look. All of my pieces are hand crafted in my seaside studio in Cambria, California. My 2 precocious dogs, Louie and Lucy, help out occasionally by knocking over beads and barking at a new design. My two superior cats, Bleu Kitty and Fatso Skinny, look at the dogs like they're crazy.

All of the silver charms, larger beads, hoops, and rings in the Gwynnie B line are handcrafted out of fine silver clay, unless otherwise noted. This clay is a precious metal like gold so no tarnishing will occur like with traditional sterling silver.  All of the fine silver charms are designed and handcrafted by Gwynne Beatty.
